FUSION PTR-TOF 10k article published in Analytical Chemistry
FUSION boosts IONICON's genuine ion-chemistry to the ppqV level
With the FUSION PTR-TOF 10k the widest range of analyte classes from nonpolar aromatic species to highly oxygenated molecules (HOMs) can be detected with unit response as predicted by ion-molecule collision theories. In this Analytical Chemistry Technical Note we present a thorough characterization of the instrument that shows IONICON's genuine PTR-MS grade ion chemistry combined with ultrahigh sensitivities up to 80 000 cps/ppbV. Together with the mass resolution of > 10 000 FWHM we illustrate the FUSION PTR-TOF 10k's ability to identify and quantify naphthalene in ambient air at lowermost mixing ratios. Furthermore, the isotopic ratio of naphthalene and its 13C-isotope is well conserved down to 100 ppqV despite all complex isobaric interferences that are present in ambient air.
