Our group uses Ionicon PTR-MS and PTR-QiTOF instruments to study the sources, chemistry, and impacts of atmospheric organic compounds across a diverse range of environments. We use these instruments because the combination of sensitivity, mass resolution, and fast time response provides an important toolset for our research.
We have been using the PTR-10k and its predecessor, the PTR-Qi-TOF, from IONICON for over eight years in our clinical research on breath analysis in pulmonary diseases. These instruments have proven to be highly reliable and sensitive, making them invaluable tools for our studies.
The PTR-MS instrument provide us with unique opportunities to investigate dynamic mass transfer processes at low concentrations for a relatively complex chemical composition. We have obtained very useful results related to e.g. emissions of odorous VOC from livestock production and biological air filtration of VOC.
The PTR-TOF-MS from IONICON, integrated into Pfeiffer Vacuum’s contamination management solutions, provides our advanced semiconductor fab customers with fast, reliable and highly sensitive information about organic contaminations. It is very valuable for the quality of their IC products.
Ionicon instrument is a great analyser for NMVOC eddy flux measurements at CzechGlobe towers being part of ICOS network. Fast measurements, aerosol sampling and chemical ionization mass spectrometry based on broad range of primary ions is our method of choice.
We are using Ionicon instrument for both the aircraft measurements and laboratory experiments in growing chambers.
We use the CHARON-PTR-TOF 4000 X2 for characterizing VOC and particle composition in atmospheric simulation chamber experiments and in field studies. The combination of particle and VOC information is very useful to improve our understanding of emission sources and the conversion of VOC to aerosol particles. The CHARON Fusion PTR-TOF 10k is used in collaboration with the group of Prof. Christiane Werner (University of Freiburg) to study VOC emissions from plants and their conversion into aerosol particles. It’s high sensitivity and switchable ion source allows online determination of low concentrations of relevant biogenic VOC as well as their oxidation products also in the particle phase.
