We are delighted to announce that IONICON has officially been certified by the Ökoprofit environmental management programme. For us, sustainability is not just a trend, but an ongoing commitment. We develop and manufacture high-precision Proton-Transfer-Reaction Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometers (PTR-TOFMS). These advanced analytical instruments are capable of measuring volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in real time and down to trace concentrations. They are used in a wide range of fields, including environmental and climate research, air quality monitoring, medical applications, food, flavour and fragrance technology. Producing such complex instruments requires many resources; therefore, it is all the more important to manage them responsibly in our daily operations and realistically evaluate our environmental impact.
Meeting all environmental regulations is simply a given for us. However, we strive to continuously and sustainably improve our environmental performance beyond these standards. To consistently pursue these goals, we have defined a comprehensive environmental policy and established a dedicated environmental management team.
Defining goals together
A central cornerstone of this success was involving the entire company in defining goals. During joint, company-wide events, ideas were collected across departments and measures were defined in line with Ökoprofit principles. To ensure the ongoing involvement of the entire team in the optimisation process, we have also set up a digital suggestion box. All employees can submit suggestions there at any time, and these are systematically recorded, evaluated and implemented wherever possible by our environmental management team.
We have anchored all the principles and goals developed for the Ökoprofit certification in an official guideline, and we have already successfully integrated various measures into our day-to-day operations. Our primary focus is on conscious energy use, careful resource management, and consistent waste reduction. We also emphasise a circular economy through durable products, drive ongoing digitalisation to reduce paper usage and promote sustainable mobility for our employees.
