"We are studying VOCs and their chemistry in the atmosphere. These VOCs from various sources are often present in very low concentrations therefore we need an instrument with a low detection limit. One important part of our research is the biosphere atmosphere interaction. We measure e.g. plants emissions. Plants emit a wide variety of VOCs which demands an analyzer able to cover a broad mass range in a short period of time. The IONICON PTR-TOF 4000 allows for simultaneous measurements of many VOCs with high sensitivity at high temporal resolution."
“The acquisition of a Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS) represents an expansion of the current instrumental facilities of the VOC laboratory. The PTR-MS will provide the laboratory with extended capabilities in terms of long-term reliability and extreme sensitivity, which are necessary for the implementation of VOC-based breath tests within clinical practice.”
"During the past two decades, the continued development of IONICON PTRMS systems has led to a steady advancement of our research capabilities resulting in important scientific discoveries as well as providing a large share of the biosphere-atmosphere VOC exchange measurements we have used as the basis for developing VOC emission models for air quality and climate models. In addition to the outstanding performance of their instruments, the excellent support and collaborative environment at IONICON have been critical to the success of our research program."

A novel proprietary method of NH4+ production for IONICON customers In PTR-TOF-MS traditionally H3O+ reagent ions produced from H2O vapor are used. NH4+ reagent ions have been mentioned in literature as being particularly beneficial because of higher sensitivity (less fragmentation) and higher selectivity (higher proton affinity). However, so far toxic and corrosive ammonia was needed […]
