N.A.S.E. is a heated device for the collection of nosespace air and direct introduction into the inlet of a PTR-MS system.
In food, flavor and fragrance science, panelists smell or taste products and a scientist would like to directly measure what the panelist tastes with an objective quantitative method such as PTR-MS. Therefore a special system for sample collection is necessary.
But not only the sample collection itself can be challenging, it is also necessary to have a sophisticated heating system in combination with inert materials and efficient sample flow paths.
Substances of interest such as e.g. Vanillin are often very "sticky" and condensate on cold spots of an inlet system. To overcome this common issue and further improve our response time optimized heated PEEK inlet system, we now offer N.A.S.E. as an add-on for IONICON PTR-MS systems.

Benefits
N.A.S.E. can be heated up to 130°C internal temperature and is thermally insulated where a panelist gets in direct contact with the device. The panelist only experiences a comfortable warmth when directly breathing into N.A.S.E. For sampling two easily exchangeable PTFE tubes are used that can be replaced without dismounting N.A.S.E. allowing for fast test cycles.
