IONICON PTR-TOFMS series Performance

Ultimate Performance in mass resolution, sensitivity and detection limits

The future of performance:

from the smallest and most affordable PTR-TOF 1000 to our new flasghip PTR-TOF 6000 X2, the IONICON PTR-TOFMS series is leading the field. Benefit from our experience and know how!

Performance data from IONICON PTR-TOFMS series instruments:

The IONICON PTR-TOFMS series is leading their respective fields in the market of time of flight based PTR-MS instruments:

  • The PTR-TOF 1000 is our smallest, lightest and most affordable PTR-TOFMS
  • The PTR-TOF 1000 ultra: benefit from up to 10x higher sensitivity thanks to the ION-BOOSTER funnel technology
  • The PTR-TOF 4000: your entry-ticket into high-resolution TOF with our advanced hexapole ION-GUIDE
  • The new PTR-TOF 6000 X2 is our new premium performance flagship instrument featuring the highest mass resolving power and the lowest possible detection limit.

Mass Resolution

Mass resolution of IONICON PTR-TOF 6000 X2, PTR-TOF 4000, PTR-TOF 1000 ultra and PTR-TOF 1000 instruments for protonated trichlorobenzene on m/z 181. The resolutions are calculated by dividing the full width at half maximum of the respective peak by 181 (FWHM method), i.e. without any fitting functions.

Sensitivity

Sensitivity (cps/ppbv) for IONICON PTR-TOF 6000 X2, PTR-TOF 4000, PTR-TOF 1000 ultra and PTR-TOF 1000 instruments. The sensitivities are obtained by analysis of compounds from certified gas standards and gathered at the respective mass resolution levels given above.

Limit of Detection

Limit-of-Detection (LoD) of selected m/z for IONICON PTR-TOF 6000 X2, PTR-TOF 4000, PTR-TOF 1000 ultra and PTR-TOF 1000 instruments. LoDs are calculated using the 3σ (standard deviation) method for integration times between 1 and 60 s.

Statistical Performance

Minimum integration time needed to achieve a relative error of 5% and 10%, respectively, while analyzing a concentration of 100 pptv at maximum measured sensitivity with IONICON PTR-TOF 6000 X2, PTR-TOF 4000, PTR-TOF 1000 ultra and PTR-TOF 1000 instruments. The relative errors are calculated dividing the square-root of the ion count rate by the ion count rate.
